The Infamous Craigslist
Craigslist is just one of the many classifieds sites out there but what makes it the top dog of all classified sites out there is the fact it has become so famous and it is free to use as much as you want. Not to mention you can get a craigslist app for iPhones and Androids that allow you to email through the ad or post directly from the phone with pictures. Some people will tell you to completely avoid craigslist with things such as the people might rip you off or are selling you stolen items. The thing about all this though is that if you know what to look for you can easily avoid being scammed. Not to mention people actually do sell a lot of stolen items on Craigslist due to the fact it is so easy to identify the stolen item and to track down the thief as it is as simple as asking to check out the item and then have the cops come to back you up when the guy shows up or you meet him some where. Truth be told, craigslist is a very safe place to shop if you are cautious.
I myself actually rely on craigslist a lot, I havnt paid for a guitar in over 2 years but in the past 2 years I have gone through at least 7 guitars just by trading. Craigslist is my personal favorite place to shop for new gear because I can look all I want without leaving my house and if I spot something I want to try all I have to do is send an email or call them. People selling often do not mind bringing what they have to you as long as you show that you are genuinely interested in what they have.

Ibanez RG5EX1
This is something I got off of craigslist a while back. They retail for $400 brand new, you can find one easily for $250 on craigslist but it shouldnt be hard to talk someone down to $200 for one. I got mine in a trade, what did I trade? I traded a SX Hawk SE which is a $80 strat copy. The guy was not an idiot, he just wanted a basic strat that had a sounded good and I happen to be one of the few people with a strat that was not selling for $400. Some luck is required but that is not even the best deal I have gotten, I actually traded this off for a ESP LTD M100FM *$300* which that got traded off for 2 guitars and a hard case. The first guitar was a Ibanez ART100 *$300* and the second was a Jay Turser custom telecaster *$250* and a tweed hard shell case *$70*. So just cause your guitar is not worth much do not be afraid to put it up for trade or try offering it in trade for something you do want, you never know what they might say.
